More About Starting Simple, Multiplying Microchurches
As disciples make disciples, the church family grows, and eventually, we run out of space to gather—leading us to plant new churches. But
church planting isn’t just a reaction to space constraints. A missionary posture has always been the normal expression of the church in every time and place.
God is a missionary God, and
we are created in His image. His missionary DNA is in us, calling us to join Him in spreading the Gospel to a lost and dying world. That said,
Scripture reveals that some are specifically called to cross cultural barriers, bringing the Good News to those the existing church isn’t reaching. We might call them “missionaries” even if they don’t leave the area.
A Clear Direction for LifeSpring
After much prayer and research, we have a clear sense that God is leading LifeSpring to become a multiplying church—one that plants churches that plant churches. These new expressions of Jesus-centered, Spirit-filled fellowships will look different from the traditional church model. They are often called “Simple Churches” or “Microchurches” nowadays.
Microchurches are small, highly relational disciple-making communities with a simple structure, led by ordinary people (not paid clergy). They exist to live out the Gospel in specific contexts (neighborhoods, workplaces, etc.), driving transformation and multiplication.
By following a Scriptural (not cultural) definition of church—one that doesn’t require a building or budget—these new churches can reach deeper into pockets of lostness where traditional churches haven’t been effective.
And with Christ-centered, co-vocational leaders who don’t require formal education, these microchurches multiply quickly—like rabbits. In contrast, traditional church planting often follows a slower, more resource-heavy process—like an elephant.

This chart illustrates the key differences between planting churches like LifeSpring and launching microchurches:
Our prayer goal is to commission 5 families or individuals as missionary disciple makers, stepping into new networks of lost people to plant the Gospel, make disciples, and spark movements of faith.
Andy is completing his two-year Church Planting Residency with LifeSpring, and God is leading him and his wife, Katherine, to focus on the long, patient process of disciple-making. Their mission? To plant the Gospel, multiply disciples, and form a network of microchurches.
Andy is looking for others who feel a similar call—to
step beyond the busyness
of services, groups, and programs to
live as missionaries together. This means
identifying new places and people of lostness
and actively
engaging them for Kingdom expansion.
Imagine What God Can Do!
These new expressions of faith won’t look like a traditional church. Instead, they will form a growing network of relationship-based churches meeting in homes, coffee shops, ballparks, schools, and gyms across our community.
As more churches join in, the result will be no street, neighborhood, business, school, or group where the Gospel isn’t proclaimed and Jesus isn’t made Lord—as we partner with Him in restoring all things!
In the startup phase, little to no money is needed. As more disciples are made and new microchurches form, some funding will be needed to support the infrastructure that empowers ordinary people to lead a multiplying network of microchurches.
Meanwhile, we can use Overflow funds to invest in:
This is just the beginning of something God-sized
and we are all invited to be part of it!
